Experience
I'm currently a research scientist, taking full advantage of my degree in physics and minor in chemistry. I graduated from Franklin and Marshall College magna cum laude. Since 2000, I've been tutoring students in math and its various subjects. My goal as a tutor is to help students achieve their full potential and meet their goals. Advanced mathematics becomes a challenge if a student hasn't mastered the early concepts. For instance, lacking a thorough understanding of pre-algebra leads to complications in algebra or future topics. I can tutor students in elementary through college-level math courses, including geometry, arithmetic, and discrete math. This leads to ongoing failure, reduced confidence, and frustration in the student. It is fully possible to master math in a fun and engaging way. As a tutor, I focus on filling in the missing information, working through weaknesses, and boosting the student's confidence in their math-solving skills. In addition to reviewing material, I can provide students with invaluable GED test prep, such as teaching test-taking strategies to improve scores. Outside of tutoring math, I am an avid supporter of Penn State, the Eagles, and the Yankees. I also enjoy gardening, biking, tennis, and reading biographies, war histories, and Scientific American.
